Futsal League 2021

  Matches are an essential part of sports, they give rise to competitive spirit and sportsmanship. With this thought, an interclass Futsal League was organised by and for the students of the Department of geology. The objective was to provide a platform for our students to showcase their team playing skills and stamina but more importantly provide an opportunity to get to know each other, especially for the First year students this served as an excellent ice breaker. The group stage matches were held on 23th March 2021 during the afternoon sessions. The first match was played between FY and TY, of which the TY won the match by 2 goals with their splendid performance.   In the second match FY penetrated into the defences of their rival team against the SY but could not score any goal. Introduction of new Skill Enhancement Courses

With the advent of Atmanirbhar Bharat and the reforms coming into the education system, more and more emphasis is being laid on skill enhancement.  Providing  Skill based education not only gives the student an advantage of learning an additional skill set but in a way it conditions the minds to think practically and creatively, thereby sparks curiosity to explore various options for themselves. With the aim to impart skill based education, the Department of Geology is proud to initiate two Skill enhancement courses ( SEC) that are implemented from the academic year 2020-2021.   In the third semester the course title “ Operational Geology ” was offered. Prerna Diwas 2021: ‘Future of Science Technology Innovation- Impacts on Education, Skills and Work’

The theme for the same was ‘Future of Science Technology Innovation: Impacts on Education, Skills and Work’. The theme was super exciting to work on. I made a video of how geological tools like Google Earth and Visible geology have helped me understand better about Geological concepts. Being a junior, I was excited about what my seniors would be presenting on. On the Prerna Diwas, 01st march 2021,  (National Science Day) a virtual event was organised to showcase the winning entries and declare the winners in the presence of all Geology faculty and students. Interaction with our Alumni- Kiran Sawant Desai

Mr Kiran Sawant Dessai is a well-known person in Goa for his great work and profession in the field of hydrogeology and groundwater. He is the founder and head of the Dip Direction, a Geotechnical services company, established in 2013 in Goa, India. The company provides Borewell drilling, Geophysical Exploration, Engineered Water Solutions and Mines & Minerals exploration. Kiran Sawant is an alumnus of the Parvatibai Chowgule College of arts and sciences. He graduated in the year 2010. After that, he obtained his master’s degree at Goa University in the year 2012. He started his career as a senior exploration geologist with Vedanta Ltd. Then he joined as a mudlogger in OFI, he also served as a field specialist in Schlumberger.  Mr. Kiran Sawants first brush with geology.
