The department of Geology had organized a video making competition for the students, to be presented on the eve of Science Day 2021. The theme for the same was ‘Future of Science Technology Innovation: Impacts on Education, Skills and Work’. The theme was super exciting to work on. I made a video of how geological tools like Google Earth and Visible geology have helped me understand better about Geological concepts. Being a junior, I was excited about what my seniors would be presenting on.

On the Prerna Diwas, 01st march 2021, (National Science Day) a virtual event was organised to showcase the winning entries and declare the winners in the presence of all Geology faculty and students. The second place was bagged by SY Student, Ms Lisa Rodrigues. She made a video presentation on The Grand Canyon, explaining how the amazing landforms in the area are an integrated product of the physical processes like fluvial erosion and the tectonics’ of that area. She used Google earth to give us a virtual tour into the Grand canyon.  It was really very much informative and well presented. In the third place we had another S Y student, Jereme Miranda, who made a video presentation on the Physiography of Goa. He spoke on  the environmental impacts due to anthropogenic activities especially in the critical coastal belt.

Ms Apoorva Pimplikar bags the 1st Place

Ms Lisa Rodrigues - Second place     &         Mr Jeremy Miranda in the Third Place

I was surprised to know I had secured the first place. All the entries were exceptionally good, enlightening and added much to my knowledge. The whole event was beautifully coordinated by Prof. Malcolm Afonso. It was the first event that I had participated in and it indeed has given me a lot of confidence and knowledge.
